As Lowell, MA - News Flash reported, the Lowell Regional Wastewater Utility (LRWWU), alongside contractor Flow Assessment Services, is conducting sewer system smoke testing across the Highlands, Pawtucketville, and Sacred Heart neighborhoods. The work begins this week and spans three weeks in November.
The testing helps identify defects, leaks, and stormwater entry points in the sanitary sewer system. Residents may see non-toxic, odorless white or gray smoke emerging from vent stacks, manholes, or the ground between eight in the morning and five in the afternoon, Monday through Friday. Crews will distribute door hangers twenty-four to ninety-six hours prior to testing. Residents with questions can contact Flow Assessment Services or the LRWWU directly.
