InsideLowell reported that the Massachusetts School Building Authority approved nearly five million dollars in Accelerated Repair Grants for Lowell Public Schools to fund window and door upgrades at three elementary schools.

The funding supports projects at the Bailey School in the Upper Highlands neighborhood, the Shaughnessy School in South Lowell, and the McAvinnue School in Pawtucketville. These state grants cover nearly two-thirds of the total price tag for the three building projects.

Lowell Schools Superintendent Liam Skinner told InsideLowell that the upgrades will improve energy efficiency and provide a safer learning and working environment for students, teachers, and staff. The Accelerated Repair Program aims to improve educational environments, reduce energy use, and generate cost savings for districts.
