InsideLowell reported that UMass Lowell has been named one of the top 100 women-led businesses in Massachusetts for the 10th consecutive year. Results were announced Friday, Oct. 30, at a celebratory breakfast at the Boston Marriott Copley Place, according to rankings compiled by The Women's Edge in partnership with The Boston Globe.
Chancellor Julie Chen told InsideLowell that the recognition reflects "the dedication and talent of our faculty, staff and students." The rankings evaluated operating budgets, Massachusetts workforce size, workplace diversity, innovative projects, and the percentage of women in upper management positions, placing UMass Lowell among institutions where 70% to 79% of vice president-level or higher positions are held by women.
